Brrr! Some shivery temperatures in early autumn here in the Mohawk Valley remind us that it is time to plan for our Third Annual Christmas Gift-Away. Free crocheted/knitted hats and scarves are offered to the veterans and members of the local community at the Wednesday luncheons held at the Veteran’s Outreach Center located at 726 Washington Street in Utica, New York.
A handmade hat and scarf is available to veterans and all who visit the Center several Wednesdays during November and December. There is a stunning array of handcrafted hats and scarves, made and donated by the women of Living Faith Bible Church’s Good Works Ministry, offered as gifts.
These items are a small token from The Shepherd’s Ministries to those who have selflessly served this country and find themselves now in need of loving care and attention. This year the tradition continues. Everyone attending the Center will be able to select a hat and scarf. They will be available during lunch on Wednesday November 11, 18, and December 2, 9, and 16. [Please Note: The Shepherd’s Ministries will not be at the Veteran’s Center on the remaining Wednesdays in November and December because of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The TSM will return on January 6 to serve lunch.]
We are encouraging all of our supporters and volunteers to stop by at least once on a Christmas Gift-Away Wednesday to experience the luncheon and our interaction with the veterans. Be sure to introduce yourself to a veteran, thank them, and perhaps pray with them when you do visit. Both of you will be blessed!
